What is a hair mineral analysis?
- The hair mineral analysis is an indicator of your biochemical profile and reveals deficiencies and excesses of minerals and trace elements.
- The hair mineral analysis is a means for the early diagnosis of chronic strains caused by heavy metals and other toxic metals.
- Hair is acknowledged by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a biological marker for environmental contaminations.
When and who for does the hair mineral analysis make sense?
- As a first laboratory measure in the patient care for the determination of their biochemical profile.
- If a lack of mineral nutrients and trace elements is suspected.
- If chronic toxic impacts on the body are suspected.
- For ascertaining one’s own micro-nutrient balance and for early prevention.
What is being analysed?
- Basic programme (38 mineral nutrients, trace elements and toxic metals) as a block analysis
aluminium (Al), arsenic (As), barium (Ba), beryllium (Be), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), calcium (Ca), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), iron (Fe), germanium (GE), gold (au), potassium (K), copper (Co), lithium (Li), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), molybdenium (Mo), sodium (Na), nickel (Ni), phosphor (P), platinum ((Pt), mercury (Hg), selenium (Se), silver (AG), silicon (Si), strontium (Sr), vanadium (V), zinc (Zn), tin (Sn), uranium (U), bismuth (Bi), antimony (Sb), boron (B), palladium (Pd), thallium (Tl), titanium (Ti), zirconium (Zr)
What is required as a sample?
- The hair mineral analysis requires at least 0.5 gram (approx. 1-2 spoons) of untreated hair from the back of the head at the neck. In case of alopecia, genital hair or beard hair can be used as sample material. Please make a note of the origin of the hair on the envelope. Do not mix hair from various parts of the body! - When using medical dandruff shampoo which contain selenium or zinc, please make a note on the sample envelope.
Which analyses are beneficial in addition?
- Heavy metal analysis in the urine (before and after mobilization with Dimaval®)
- Determination of vitamins, fatty acids and amino acids in the whole blood or the serum respectively.
- Diagnosis of the faeces to determine the absorption ratio in the intestine.
